RG-8/U, PL-259s & more!
So I designed another thing. When I got my AnyTone AT-778UV, I didnt think to save the mobile mount. Oops! Since this radio will be going into the new “shack”, I wanted to mount it underneath a shelf.
It fits snug as a bug in a rug! Luckily, I had some screws on hand that bolted into the radio perfectly. Next up was trying my hand at connecting a PL-259 to the new coax I just bought.
It actually wasnt bad putting this thing together. I thought it would be a little bit more tough but it was pretty easy. These are the connectors I purchased from Amazon and they came with everything needed. I followed this guide from Ham Radio Tube to put everything together.
The last thing to cover is the center insulator/balun I 3D printed.
This is for the 6 meter antenna I am building. I’m waiting on a few things for it but its about 50% done. I used these SO-239 bulkhead connectors for the job. I cant wait to get on 6 meters because other than a few nets, 2 meters around here is VERY dead…
I’m still shopping around for a HF radio rig that I can grow into, so I’ve got some researching to do. I plan on taking my General test in the next few weeks so hopefully I get it!
Whelp, thats all for now. Thanks for reading!
