No 10m for you!
So.. Remember that 10 meter antenna I made?
I BELIEVE the antenna portion should be ok and in good working order. I think the issue was with the PL-259 connectors I “soldered”. Well.. Blowtorched! Yeah…. To save time, I forwent the iron and used a propane torch instead. Since the tips were gold plated brass, I think I torched it too badly. I posted my concerns on a ham radio discord and someone mentioned about boiling the diaelectric too. Ughhhh.
Oh well. Live and learn I guess. I ordered some new PL-259 fittings and they should be in on Saturday. Interesting note, the AT-6666 PRO has a built in SWR meter. It was showing 13 when transmitting on AM and CW. OOF!
In other news, I got my shack looking good!
I added a Yamaha mixer that I had sitting in storage that I will eventually hook all my radios up to. This will allow me to interface with my laptop via USB. I also plan on getting one of these powerpole distributers.
I love that it comes with inline fuses. Cable management is a big thing for me! Anyway, that is all for now. I’ll post my results when I redo the ends on the coax. Toodles!
